Vector Conversion & Enhancement
The secret to really great looking graphics is in how they are prepared. In commercial art, graphics like logos and text are a means of grabbing someone's attention. Clean, sharp images convey professionalism and will be memorable.
At Vancouver Island Image Scanning we can take even a poor quality logo, graphic or glyph and turn it into a highly flexible and versatile vector graphic. What this means is that from this one file you will be able to have a printer ready graphic for anything from the size of a postage stamp to a billboard. We can provide vector files in .EPS or .IA. which will allow you to size your image to whatever you require. You can then easily produce any other format such as, .JPEG, .GIF, .PDF, .PSD, .PNG, .TIFF.
The best thing is, you only need to do this once! The costs for all future printing projects and the related file preparation costs will be nominal. And you will always look great!
Below are some examples of our work.
The Samurai in Art
The Samurai in Art is a traveling exhibit featuring a series of drawings and paintings celebrating Japanese history. We started with the low quality graphic you see here.

As you can see there's not much to work with and it does not look good. What was required was to have graphics that could be used for high quality magazine printing, a 3' x 6' banner, t-shirts, tickets, web ready graphics and more. The file we delivered met all the requirements. As this show tours the world, these graphics will be used time and time again. Changing them for different applications is a snap.
As the old saying goes, "a job worth doing is worth doing right". We could not agree more.

Donoahue Design
Jim Donoahue is an internationally recognized graphic designer from Toronto who lived here in BC for many years. Most of his work was scanned by us from a collection of slides and prints. In some cases an original image was not available. Of course it was imperative that his images met the same high standard that is the hallmark of his work. www.donoahuedesign.ca was created entirely by Vancouver Island Image Scanning's Patrick Donoahue. This included all scanning and graphic recreation. Below are two examples. To see the entire online collection, please visit www.donoahuedesign.ca

Haruko Ishihara
This work was especially challenging. The original image was drawn by hand on rice paper. Chinese calligraphy is about subtlety down to the finest detail of the brush. Even the slightest deviation can change the meaning of the work. Taking this graphic and preparing it for printing is a challenge even to seasoned graphics experts. The client was very happy with the result for her first book.
